MOSES LAKE — Boys and Girls Clubs of the Columbia Basin officials are warning people that scammers apparently are using the club’s logo and claiming to be affiliated with the organization. The scammers allegedly were soliciting money door to door along Third Avenue early Tuesday afternoon.
“The Boys and Girls Club does not send individuals door to door or into the community to solicit cash donations,” according to an announcement from club leaders. “This is especially difficult for us, as our club works incredibly hard for every dollar we earn to support local youth.”
One of the scammers allegedly said he was in high school and was raising money for college by working with the club on the fundraiser, the release said. The two were asking for cash donations as well.
People with information who were approached by the scammers or who have any information are asked to contact the club at 509-764-9694.
