Judith Ann "Judy" Simshaw, 78
Lake County Leader | UPDATED 8 hours, 47 minutes AGO
It is with saddened hearts that the family of Judith “Judy” Ann Simshaw announces her passing on Monday, Dec. 1, 2025, in Polson. Her loving family was ever present by her side, up to her final days and moments, providing care, support and prayers for her.
Judy was born Jan. 25, 1947, in Honolulu, Hawaii, and was the daughter of Dwane and Amy Moss.
Judy, 78, had lived in her beloved town of Polson for more than 45 years, and truly enjoyed its natural beauty. She was loved and kindly regarded by all, most notably for her care of animals and her thoughtful outreach to others.
As a mother of five children, who were all raised in Polson, she was also very interconnected to many members of the community by being present for football and basketball games, wrestling matches, dance recitals, cheer events and swim meets for her children. Her support, encouragement and enthusiasm for their talents and interests is something her children will always treasure in their memories!
Even her children's friends and teammates considered her to be another "mom." She was inherently generous in her nurturing ways.
Judy had a heart and passion for growth and creativity. She was a true plant lover, always ensuring her flowers, vegetable gardens and succulent plants were tended to and thriving. Her crafting and crocheting gifts were anticipated and lovingly made for her family and friends.
Most significantly, Judy was a steward of all animals. Specifically, she cared for dogs that were greatly in need of fostering and rescue, especially those with extra needs. Judy ensured that the animals received a warm and welcoming home and a second chance.
Her merciful and compassionate ways were inspiring to all. She made this world a more beautiful place with her talents and work.
Amusingly, Judy's family could always count on adorable panda, dog and silly otter memes in text messages sent by her, as she often found them so endearing and fun. It would bring a smile to all and let you know that she was thinking of you!
Judy always looked forward to seeing the Simshaws during the annual Simshaw campout in the mountains of Montana. Judy often enjoyed travels to see family in both her childhood hometown of Oswego, Ill. (in the Chicago area) and to her birthplace of Honolulu.
She appreciated the vibrant tropical flowers, foods and artistry of the Hawaiian Islands. As the islands would have us say “a hui hou” – “until we meet again, Judy.”
She is now reunited with her son, Jeff Chada, granddaughter Sarah, parents Dwane and Amy Moss, paternal grandparents Hubert W. and Olive Moss, and maternal grandparents Zenpo and Maushi Isa.
She is survived by her husband, Doane Simshaw of Polson; and children Sue Chada, Todd (Cyndi) Chada, Kelly Chada (Kennifer), Shaelyn Noyes (Kelby Wunschel), and Ajalin Simshaw (Tyler Coleman); as well as 18 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. She also leaves siblings Jenny Rooker and Rod Moss, and many nieces and nephews.
No funeral arrangements are made at her request. She has asked simply for happy remembrances, and for memorials to be directed to Life Savers Animal Rescue in Polson, or any animal rescue local in your area. Memories and condolences may be sent to the family at lakefuneralhomeandcremation.com.
Arrangements are under the care of The Lake Funeral Home and Crematory.
