MDOT to begin sampling soils for new Post Creek bridge
Lake County Leader | UPDATED 2 days, 10 hours AGO
The Montana Department of Transportation and Kiewit Infrastructure Company will begin testing soil on Highway 93 in the Post Creek area next month to measure its ability to support a new bridge.
The geotechnical investigation work is slated to start the week of Jan. 5 and continue through the end of February, weather permitting.
According to a MDOT press release, work will take place between Dublin Gulch Road and McDonald Lake Road. Crews will be boring along the roadway to test the soil’s ability to support the new bridge spanning Post Creek, which will also facilitate wildlife movement underneath the highway.
During the drilling project, drivers can expect alternating single-lane, one-way traffic control with signals facilitating traffic movement from each end of the work zone. All work will take place during daylight hours to enhance crew and driver safety.
Motorists can expect delays due to signals navigating the work zone.
Installation of a northbound truck climbing lane and the bridge across Post Creek is expected to get underway late next summer.
