Canopy Village, formerly Children’s Village, announced Wednesday the appointment of Rosa Mettler as executive director.

Mettler has recently served as the organization’s chief operating officer and has been the clinical therapeutic leader for more than 11 years. She will bring extensive experience and deep institutional knowledge to the role, according to a press release.

“I believe deeply in the mission of Canopy Village, and I have devoted the majority of my career to building this program,” said Mettler. “It is an honor to continue this work in my new role as executive director of the operations side of our two nonprofits.”

In August, Canopy Village announced a strategic leadership reorganization designed to strengthen operations and position both organizations for continued growth.

Former Chief Executive Officer Vanessa Moos stepped down from the role to prioritize family, the release said.

The CEO position previously oversaw both Canopy Village Foundation and Canopy Village’s residential and family support programs, which operate as two separate nonprofit organizations.

Canopy Village restructured the role into two distinct executive director positions as part of the reorganization.

“The need is greater than ever,” said Canopy Village Board President Toni Capaul. “With Rosa’s leadership and the support of Canopy Village Foundation, we are serving more than 400 children this Christmas.”

As the region’s only youth home, Canopy Village provides crisis respite, emergency shelter, residential treatment, and family support services.

Operating separately to support Canopy Village, the Foundation works to address critical funding gaps and meet growing community needs.

“The community needs us, so we continue to work tirelessly to fundraise at the level required,” said Canopy Village Foundation Board President Marie Nail. “Rosa has always been a steadfast leader, and the Foundation is proud to support her appointment as executive director of Canopy Village.”
