BONNERS FERRY — The sentencing of a man arrested during a Boundary County Sheriff’s Office investigation of online child predators has been delayed until Feb. 4, 2026.
Jaccob Johnson, 30, is being sentenced on one felony count of child enticement stemming from a June 5 incident. Court records show he entered a guilty plea on Sept. 3.
Johnson posted a $50,000 bond on June 7.
According to court documents, as part of the BCSO operation, a confidential informant working with law enforcement used the dating application Badoo on June 5 to pose as a 14-year-old girl.
Operations, such as the one conducted by BCSO are often done to catch predators targeting young children on the internet. Confidential informants will pose as young children to catch adults who are potentially behaving illegally.
Johnson began communicating with the informant and, after learning her stated age, allegedly said it would not be wise to meet a stranger from the internet.
Documents indicate that Johnson questioned the informant, asking “What if I was a rapist?” and “What if I was a kidnapper?” before saying that he was “not a pedophile and was familiar with law enforcement sting operations.”
According to court documents, Johnson later asked the informant for sexually explicit photographs. The conversation allegedly aligned with talks of pregnancy and unsafe sexual practices.
According to court records, after requesting graphic photographs, Johnson told the informant it would be a “big leap of faith” to trust that he would not end up in jail.
