ALL-STATE FOOTBALL: Yarbrough, Hatten receive multiple honors; seven area players grab accolades
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 6 hours, 56 minutes AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | December 19, 2025 1:00 AM
Sandpoint High junior athlete Brock Yarbrough and Priest River High offensive and defensive lineman Brady Hatten highlighted the 5A and 3A All-State high school football teams, respectively, as the honorees were announced recently by The Idaho Statesman newspaper of Boise.
Yarbrough, who received three honors in total, was named to the First Team as both a wide receiver and linebacker and garnered Second Team honors as a kicker for helping lead Sandpoint back to the state quarterfinals and to a record of 8-3 on the season. Also receiving accolades among the 5A ranks were Sandpoint High senior running back Jensen Sheetz and senior wide receiver Maverick Gomez, both of whom were named to the Second Team.
Hatten, who helped the Spartans to their first league title since 1957, to the 3A state quarterfinals, and to a record of 5-5, was named to the First Team as an offensive lineman and to the Second Team as a defensive lineman. Priest River's Layton Goins was one of two sophomores to receive First Team honors for his efforts as a wide receiver this season.
In 4A, Bonners Ferry High senior running back Keenan Maas was named to the First Team and senior linebacker Conrad Hiatt was named to the Second Team after they led the Badgers back to a league title, the state playoffs, and to a record of 7-3.
The coaches in each classification select their All-State teams. The Idaho Statesman hosts the vote, then produces and publishes the results.
