Shoshone News-Press | UPDATED 10 hours, 39 minutes AGO
Kenneth “Kenny” William Kurrelmeyer, 97, of Pinecreek, Idaho, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, in Wisconsin, where he had just moved with his wife and daughter Joyce only a few weeks ago.
Kenny was loved by so many in the community over the years.
Born on Sept. 8, 1928, in Empire, Minn., and then moved to Idaho in 1952. Kenny married his wife, Alice Shaffer, in January 1954 and moved to Pinecreek, Idaho. Together they had six children and 10 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Kenny worked in southern Idaho on a potato farm, did some logging and worked at Bunker Hill until it shut down. After Bunker Hill shut down, he went on to running his junkyard full-time in Pinecreek. Kenny was a very hardworking man. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family playing pinochle, hiking, huckleberry picking, camping and swimming (including digging out the swimming hole every year up the east fork). He never had a bad word to say about anyone. He was one of the kindest people one would ever meet. Those who knew him loved him.
Kenny is survived by his wife of 72 years, Alice Kurrelmeyer; his children, Janet Carpenter, Joyce Hummel and Debbie Mellen.
He is preceded in death by his children: Judy Sparks, Kenny Kurrelmeyer JR and Patsy Kurrelmeyer. Also, his grandson, Paul Sparks, preceded him in death.
Kenny’s memorial of life will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Ellsworth, Wis., on Saturday, Dec. 27, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
