The Libby girls basketball team picked up its first win of the season Tuesday evening at Ralph Tate Gymnasium, beating Troy, 51-41.
It was the first time the neighboring county schools had played each other since 2022 when Troy dedicated its court at the Activity Center.
Libby was 0-3 entering the game, but strong performances by sophomore Hadleigh Wood and junior Rylee Delmas keyed the win.
Wood led all scorers with 21 points while Delmas tallied 16.
The Lady Trojans were 1-0 after opening the season with a 73-12 win over Alberton last Saturday.
Troy led 2-0 when freshmen Aspen Orr put back her own 3-point miss with 6:34 left in the first quarter.
But Libby scored 14 of the next 18 points to take a 14-6 lead. Wood scored 13 of the 14.
Delmas picked up the scoring torch in the second quarter, pouring in the first seven Libby points to make it 21-15. Libby built its lead to 25-18 at the half.
To start the third quarter, Troy’s 5-0 spurt made it a close game again with Libby clinging to a 25-23 lead.
The Loggers answered with a 13-4 run to create a double-digit cushion at the end of three quarters, 38-27.
Sophomore Jayva Boehmler scored on back to back possessions, then sophomore Rosalin Baney beat the buzzer with basket on the inbounds play to end the quarter.
Libby’s lead was never less than eight points or more than 13 in the final quarter.
Wood and Delmas kept Troy at bay while Orr scored eight in an attempt to keep the Lady Trojans in the game. Free throw shooting wa also key for Libby as it made at least 17 from the stripe.
Libby was scheduled to play at Stevensville Friday, but in the wake of the massive power outages in the area, school was cancelled for the remainder of the week and next week is the holiday break.
Libby will return to action Jan. 8 at Whitefish.
Troy (1-1) is scheduled to play Saturday at Noxon.
