It's time to make dump fees more fair

Sanitation (dump) fees. I have paid these for almost 25 years, but let's talk again.

I am buying a few slices of sandwich ham and paying for a whole hog. 

You are allowed 3 yards per day of household, which is often open seven days per week at 21 yards/week, or 1,092 yards per year, per household is the volume we are presumed to be dumping for $197. Do you?

You can also go to all eight sites without being checked which is 168 yards per day, 8,736 yards per year (not excluding holidays). 

A standard pickup filled to the sides is 2 yards. Up to the top of the cab is about 3 yards. Many to most of us have a bag a week, you might do 3 yards of household in a year, but charged for 1,092 yards up to over 8,000 yards per year.

I suggest, pay as you go, not put on the tax bill. The sticker gets you in the gate as a resident or property owner. Up to 1 yard (most of us with a bag or two) is $5 per trip. Up to 3 yards is $20 per trip. The difference for me is almost $140/year at $5 per month. 

If the county really thinks we are dumping upward of 8,000 yards of household per year, per household, then that is how they price us,but it simply isn't so.

Who is overly dumping beyond all of us small households that our rates went up AGAIN and Three versus 8,000.

The new rates are out, but time for a discussion to start for next year and pay-as-you-go method.

Add handheld card readers and tap and go. I would wait five more minutes to not pay far more than I owe.
