Bobcats’ McMahon named Big Sky co-player of the week

Montana State guard Patrick McMahon was named Big Sky Conference men’s basketball Co-Player of the Week the conference announced Tuesday.


McMahon shares the award with Idaho’s Kolton Mitchell. 


McMahon finished with 26 points and dished out five assists to push the Bobcats past Cal Poly. He shot 79 percent from the field (11-of-14) to secure the victory. This marks McMahon’s first Player of the Week title from the Big Sky Conference and is the first Bobcat to claim the title since Robert Ford III did in January of 2024. 


Mitchell and the Vandals also bested the Mustangs this week with the Idaho guard exploding for 31 points, including a go-ahead 3-pointer with seven second left in overtime. This is Mitchell’s second Player of the Week award. 


Montana State starts conference play on Jan. 1 hosting Northern Colorado at 7 p.m. at Brick Breeden Fieldhouse.
