Habitat for Humanity of Flathead Valley has opened applications for six new houses in Columbia Falls.

The deadline for applications is Feb. 3, 2026. Interested home buyers can access the application materials and eligibility requirements at habitatflathead.org/homeownership and queries can be directed to [email protected]

Habitat Flathead is building one four-bedroom home, three three-bedroom homes, and two two-bedroom homes on the corner of Railroad Street and Fourth Avenue East North in Columbia Falls. The houses will be single-story homes with a shared green space. Habitat Flathead homes are highly energy-efficient and use some of the latest construction technology. Construction is slated to begin in the spring of 2026.

The land the houses are being built on has been donated by the city of Columbia Falls to the Northwest Montana Community Land Trust. Thus, this neighborhood of six homes is designated to stay permanently affordable by remaining with the community land trust in perpetuity.

“Habitat Flathead is always thrilled to build on land provided by the city or the community land trust because we are able to keep those house prices in the $300,000 to $380,000 range for these new homes. The homes are deed restricted and then when the houses are subsequently sold into the Northwest Montana Community Land Trust, the homes are protected from future price surges,” said Habitat Flathead’s Executive Director MaryBeth Morand.

In addition, Habitat Flathead takes donations of funds and volunteer labor to make these houses affordable and to build more homes across the Flathead Valley.
