Lois 'Darlene' Brostrom, 93

Darlene Brostrom of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, peacefully passed away Dec. 17, 2025. She will always be remembered for her sweet, quiet nature and for her deep love for her family. Darlene was born June 5, 1932, in San Jose, Calif., where she was raised by her parents, Mildred Lois (McComas) and Richard Gummow. She graduated from Vallejo High School. A few years later, she met the love of her life, Richard "Dick" Brostrom, and they were married Feb. 6, 1954, in San Jose, Calif. They welcomed two sons, David and Jeffrey, to complete their family.
Dick and Darlene moved to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in 1992, where they were able to fulfill their dream of spending many weekends boating on the lake. Darlene remained devoted to the San Francisco 49ers and became an avid fan of Gonzaga Bulldogs basketball. When not on the lake or watching sports, she was often in the kitchen cooking meals or baking cookies for her loved ones.
Darlene is survived by her loving husband, Dick Brostrom, of almost 72 years; sons, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Brostrom and David (Kate) Brostrom; grandchildren Joshua (Brandi) Brostrom, Briana (Andrew) O'Gorman, Alyssa (Tyler) Emmett, Tyler (Justin) Brostrom and Haley Brostrom; and six great-grandchildren; brothers Richard (Cynthia) Gummow and Robert (Carol) Gummow.
At Darlene's request, no services will be held.
