Bravettes start search for new volleyball coach after Russell resignation

Flathead High School announced the resignation of volleyball coach Emily Russell Friday and also stated that the search for a new coach will begin after the holiday break.

Russell spent six seasons in charge of the Bravettes, she guided the Bravettes to a 5-21 record in 2025, going 4-10 in Western AA matches. The Bravettes season ended with a loss in a state play-in game against Helena.

The Bravettes made the 2021 state tournament under Russell.

"Coach Russell's passion for volleyball and Flathead High School has always been evident," said Matt Allison, Assistant Principal and Activities Director. "We are grateful for her dedicated years of service to our student-athletes."

The school announced that the hiring process for a new coach will begin in the new year and stated a goal of February to present a recommendation to the Board of Trustees.

"We are excited about the level of work ethic and talent that our returning players bring to the program," Allison said. "The Flathead Activities mission is developing champions in life and tomorrow's leaders. We will continue to push our student-athletes and this program forward."
