Ronan, Polson and Arlee wrestlers post strong finishes

Lake County wrestling programs turned in a productive stretch before the holiday break, with Ronan, Polson and Arlee athletes earning podium finishes at the Glyn Brawley Classic in Corvallis and the Arlee Christmas Invite.

Polson shines at Glyn Brawley Classic

Polson Pirates put together several strong individual performances at the Glyn Brawley Classic on Dec. 20 at Corvallis High School, highlighted by a championship run from Wyatt Moldenhaur.

Moldenhaur went 2-0 at 118 pounds to claim first place, scoring 22 team points. He recorded falls in both contested matches, pinning Corvallis’ Leyton Olsen in the semifinals and Bridger Bache of Libby-Troy in the title bout.

Logan Clairmont added a third-place finish at 138, battling through the consolation bracket with three falls to score 16 team points. Corben Carlson also placed third at 150, recording three pins on his way to the podium.

Additional placers for Polson included Levi Atkins, who finished third at 144, Gabriel Houston with a third-place finish at 165, and Jaidon Mahkuk, who placed fourth at 157.

Ronan dominates in Arlee

The Ronan Chiefs delivered an impressive showing at the Arlee Christmas Invite, producing multiple champions across the lineup.

Beau Lytle captured first place at 103 pounds, earning a technical fall in the semifinals before pinning his opponent in the championship match. Brander McCollum followed suit at 126, claiming the title with two falls and a decision in the finals.

Ruben Dalke was dominant at 190, pinning his way through the bracket, including a semifinal fall over Polson’s Damien Kato and a first-period pin in the championship match. Cooper Wayman added another title at 215, recording two falls and a technical fall in the finals.

Uriah Reed finished third at heavyweight, while Isaiah Smith placed fourth at 175 after advancing through the consolation rounds.

Arlee claims hardware on home mats

Arlee Warriors also made the most of its home tournament, highlighted by a championship performance from Dominick Haynes.

Haynes went 4-0 at 138 pounds to claim first place, recording three falls before winning the title match by major decision. Grady O’Connor added a runner-up finish at 175, reaching the finals with back-to-back pins before falling in the championship bout.
