Ronan, Polson square off at wrestling duals

Ronan and Polson squared off in a competitive pair of wrestling duals Tuesday, Dec. 16, with the Ronan girls earning a 42-30 victory and the boys teams battling to a 42-42 draw in a night filled with falls and momentum swings.
Ronan girls defeat Polson
The Ronan Chiefs came away with the win on the girls side, using a combination of forfeit points and key pins to outpace Polson Pirates.
Ronan picked up four forfeit victories at 105, 110, 170 and 235 pounds, while Polson earned forfeit points at 100 and 145. The teams also had double forfeits at 115 and 190.
On the mat, Ainsley Peretto, Sierra McGreevey and Hadassah Read each recorded falls for Ronan. Peretto pinned Cheyenne Blake at 125 pounds; McGreevey earned a fall at 130; and Read secured the win at 155.
Polson answered with three pins of its own. Graci Hammer earned a quick fall at 120, Kaiah Dumont pinned Laila Neiss at 135, and Kellyn Nelson picked up a fall at 140.
The combination of bonus points and pins allowed Ronan to pull away late and secure the dual win.
Boys wrestle to 42-42 tie
The boys dual was tightly contested from start to finish, with Ronan and Polson trading falls throughout the lineup and finishing deadlocked at 42-42.
Ronan earned pins from Beau Lytle at 103, Brander McCollum at 126, Rieylyn Wayman at 132, Skylar Sias at 144, Tobias Cantlon at 165, Cooper Wayman at 215 and Haysen Hakes at heavyweight.
Polson countered with falls by Wyatt Moldenhaur at 118, Logan Clairmont at 138, Corben Carlson at 150, Sheamis Cobb at 157, Ryatt Maley at 175 and Shawn Stump at 190, along with a forfeit win at 110.
Several extra matches were also contested, with wins by Aiden Schall and Anton Irvine for Ronan, while Polson picked up extra-match victories from Loui Mohr and Gabriel Houston.
