David Paul Smith, 80, passed away Saturday, Dec. 20, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
A viewing will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2025, at noon at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Lakeview Funeral Home, with a burial to follow.
David was born Nov. 26, 1945, to Jessie and Lillian Smith in Van Nuys, Calif. He graduated from Polly Tech High School and then attended college at UCLA. He then married Laura on Feb. 15, 1969, in Pacoima, Calif. Together, they moved to San Francisco to begin a life together.
He worked as an encyclopedia salesman, later owning the company. From there, he went into real estate in California and Idaho.
His loved to woodwork, do carpentry, camping, fishing, shooting his guns, hiking, backpacking, and riding his motorcycle.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
His is survived by his wife, Laura Smith, and his puppy, Gracie Girl of Sandpoint, Idaho; four siblings: Joyce DeGennaro of Costa Mesa, Calif.; Janice Kehl of Santa Ana, Calif.; Dennis Smith of Sun Valley, Calif.; and Janine Lewis of Rockland, Calif.; four sisters-in-law: Marisa (Steve) Robbins of Laguna Beach, Calif., Anna (Roland) Monaco of Simi Valley, Calif., Joanna (Paul) Gilmartin of Riverview, Fla., and Dorathy Murphy of Porter Ranch, Calif.
