Libby girls basketball takes down Stevensville, 45-25

The Libby girls basketball team used a balanced effort to pull away for a 45-25 win over Stevensville on Friday, Dec. 19.

"The last two games we have set a goal for our turnovers, as taking care of the basketball has become a priority for us," Libby Head Coach Todd Boehmler said. "We met our goal for both games which helps us be more efficient on offense."

Libby took control early, building a 9-4 lead after the first quarter before extending the margin to 21-10 at halftime. The Loggers maintained their advantage coming out of the break, holding Stevensville to 11 points in the third quarter and just four in the fourth while steadily adding to their lead.

Libby finished strong in the final eight minutes, outscoring Stevensville 14-4 to put the game away and secure the 20-point victory.

Rylee Delmas led the Lady Loggers with 18 points and Hadleigh Wood notched 14 points, four assists and three steals. Leah Rusdal also put in nine points. The Lady Loggers shot 46 percent from the field, and hauled down 36 total rebounds. Demas also had six rebounds and three assists and shot well from the field, going 6-for-12 and hitting 5-of-6 free throws.

Jayva Boehmler hauled in 11 total rebounds while dishing out four assists.

Libby had 13 turnovers in the matchup, versus 10 offensive rebounds and seven steals as a team. The Lady Loggers also dished out 16 assists.

With the win, Libby improved to 2-3 on the season. The Loggers host Whitefish Thursday, Jan. 8.
