Volunteers sought for tax season

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide is seeking volunteers in Kootenai and Shoshone counties to help Idaho taxpayers who are seeking assistance preparing and filing their 2025 tax returns.

AARP Tax-Aide volunteers receive free tax preparation training in January before tax preparation starts Feb. 2.

Volunteers will help taxpayers at four sites around Kootenai and Shoshone counties. The 2026 tax preparation service locations will be Dalton Gardens Church of Christ, Lake City Center, Rathdrum Community Center and Kellogg Idaho Health and Welfare Office. Tax preparation appointments can be made after Jan. 15.

Volunteers in Kootenai and Shoshone counties prepared over 5,000 returns in 2025. There are more than 32,000 volunteers nationally who participate each year.
