Sallie K. Guy, 97, was at home surrounded by her loved ones when she left this earth for heaven on Dec. 6, 2025. She was born on Aug. 23, 1928, in Pittsburg, Kansas.
Sallie, her brother and parents, then moved to Iowa during the depression to live on a farm. She learned about farm life, how to ride a horse, and how to make do. Sallie’s family eventually moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she continued her schooling. She then graduated from Oklahoma State University with a degree in dietetics.
She met her husband Edward Guy, and they married in 1953. They lived in Iowa City, Iowa while Edward finished his medical residency. They then moved to Great Falls. They had six children and settled in Billings where they lived for 33 years.
Sallie worked part-time as a dietician while raising their children. She loved music and was accomplished at playing piano and violin and encouraged her children in music as well. Sallie was an active member of P.E.O. (Philanthropic Educational Organization) in each town she lived in, also serving as past president of several chapters.
Sallie learned to snow ski and backpack as an adult, and the family enjoyed many years skiing and hiking together. She and Edward also mastered the tandem bicycle and took many trips around Montana cycling.
After retirement, Sallie and Edward moved to the Flathead Valley where they owned and operated a cherry orchard with help from their children and grandchildren.
Knowing Jesus as her Savior was the central theme of Sallie’s life, and everyone who spent time with her knew of the love and peace that filled her as she cared for and encouraged each person in her life.
She is survived by her children, Peter Guy, Mary Guy, Martha Harring (Don), Sarah Leckie (Ross), James Guy (Lisa) and Debbie Chuang (Jeff), 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will take place at Glacier Church at noon on Jan. 3 with burial to follow at the Bigfork Community Cemetery.
