Cats take in a Gonzaga game together

One team’s chaos is another team’s pleasure.
When the Lady Cats are clicking on the basketball court , the other team is in a state of chaos, unsure of where to pass the ball or to dribble to next.
Creating that kind of chaos is coach Jeff Schultz and his Lady Cats’ modus operandi, and most times this season, that method of attack has worked out quite nicely. Unfortunately, without one of their key chaos-creators (sophomore Ava White was busy with tryouts for the US Ski Team that day), the Bobcats fell 41-34 to Charlo in Charlo Dec. 20 right before the holiday break.
Now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in District 14C play, the Lady Cats return to action with a conference game at Alberton Saturday. Schultz was with his team attending a Gonzaga game in Spokane when reached Sunday. The Gonzaga trip is part of the ongoing team-building Schultz and his squad have been doing.
“We attend the Gonzaga team camp in the summer, get to meet their players and coaches,” Schultz said. "So this is a good full-circle moment for the kids to go and see them play a Division I game.”
Schultz said the Cats had their chances in the roller coaster type game at Charlo to end 2025 play.
“We came out flat, not bringing the kind of intensity we need,” he said, “and fell behind by 15 at halftime. We rallied in the second half to tie it up by the end of the third quarter, but missed some layups late and let it slip away in the end.”
Junior Josie Crabb led Superior in scoring with 14 points in Charlo.
