SANDPOINT — The Bonner County commissioners will hold a special meeting today, Dec. 30, to discuss the county’s expectations of members of the fair board, among other agenda items.
The special meeting was announced Tuesday, Dec. 23, and stems from a meeting that was held earlier in the month regarding fairground personnel and the roles and responsibilities on the fair board. During the early-December meeting, commissioners unanimously clarified that fairground employees report to county commissioners. It was also determined that further meetings should be set to better determine the scope of work for the fair board, so as not to overwhelm the volunteer board with duties outside its intended role.
Commissioners are expected to review four action items at 1 p.m.: duties and responsibilities for conducting the annual county fair, rodeo and horse show; the BOCC ‘s expectation of fair board members in the performance of their duties and responsibilities; the fair board’s enterprise funds and the expectation of the BOCC for the presentation of a budget for the annual county fair, rodeo and horse show; and Bonner County’s duties responsibilities in maintaining and operating the county’s fairgrounds.
All items are listed for discussion and decision, meaning that the Board of County Commissioners has the authority to make decisions based on the above action items.
According to a memorandum submitted to commissioners, the board aims to fall in line with Idaho Code, streamlining duties for fair board members, which is outlined as the Bonner County Fair and potentially the rodeo and 4-H horse show.
