ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Teagan Newsom, Sandpoint Girls Wrestling

This week's Athlete of the Week is Teagan Newsom of Sandpoint Girls Wrestling.

Teagan, a junior wrestling at 145 pounds, recently defeated opponents from Arlee and Florence via first-round pin to win the Arlee Christmas Classic Tournament held Dec. 20 in Arlee, Mont. The multi-sport standout did the same against opponents from Kellogg and Lewiston to win the George Wild Tournament held Dec. 12 and 13 at Kellogg High. A district champion as a sophomore, she's started off her 2025-2026 campaign with a 7-0 record, with all seven of those wins coming by pin.
