Bateman leads Badgers as girls basketball team prepares for Timberlake

Junior Taren Bateman has lit up the stat sheet for Bonners Ferry girls basketball and is Idaho’s second leading scorer as they fight to improve each game before they face league opponents Timberlake on Jan. 17. It has been a mixed bag for the Bonners Ferry High School girls basketball team this season, as they sit 5-5 with a better record away than at home. They are currently ranked 54 in Idaho.
Bateman is averaging 23.1 points per game, with 4.9 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game. Her points per 32 minutes is 27.1, which is the highest in Idaho by a 4.4 points gap. It is also number 17 in the entire country. She is fourth in the state in field goals made, seventh in blocks and 13th in steals.
Junior Nolie Hiatt is leading the team in rebounds with 7.1 a game, which is tenth in division 4A, while also adding 6.6 ppg and having the second highest three-point percentage.
Two freshmen in Jaycee Bateman and Bristol Hill are leading the team in minutes. Bateman is second on the team with 6.7 ppg, while Hill averages 6 ppg with 2.3 assists per game.
Junior Eva Willis has been consistent this season in her rebounding ability, averaging 5.3 rpg, with almost half of them on the offensive glass, keeping possession alive for the team.
Senior Alexys Mierke has been injured for the last three games for the Badgers but is second on the team in steals at 2.3 per game, along with 4 points and 4.2 rebounds. Senior Hallie Thomson has nearly twice as many offensive rebounds as defensive rebounds.
