Marian Jones, age 96, a lifetime resident of Harrison, Idaho, passed away at North Star Senior Living Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Dec. 26, 2025. Marian was born July 31, 1929, the daughter of Albert and Esther Fisher of Harrison, Idaho.
Marian attended first and second grade at a single-room school at Eastpoint and graduated from Harrison High School in 1946. Her first job was at the First Bank of St. Maries.
She married Evan Jones in November 1947. Together, they built a cattle operation on Thompson Lake and spent their life there. They adopted a 4-year-old boy, Bill, in 1961. Marian was a member of the Harrison Grange for 80 years, a mainstay for the Harrison Oldtimers Picnic. Marian and Evan were strong supporters of the Idaho Cattleman’s Association, and Marian served as President for the Cowbells (the Ladies auxiliary of the Cattleman’s Association) in 1985.
Marian not only managed the finances for their cattle operation but also worked part-time at the Springston Store in Springston, Idaho, and Rose’s Café in Harrison, Idaho.
Marian was preceded in death by husband, Evan. Marian is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Wendy Jones, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and by her brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Jan Fisher, in Jefferson, Ore. Two grandchildren, Catlin Wyatt in Shelton, Wash., and Kody Jones in Post Falls, Idaho, and three great-grandchildren. She has four nieces, Diana, Renie, and April in Canada, and Cindy in New Zealand, and a nephew, Lonnie, in Canada, whom she has always called her children.
Per Marian’s wishes, the family will have a private graveside service at the Harrison Cemetery in Harrison, Idaho, on Jan 7, 2026. There will be a public viewing at the English Funeral Chapel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on Jan 6, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. The graveside services will be recorded and uploaded to Marian's online memorial at www.englishfuneralchapel.com. for anyone to watch.
There will be a celebration of life on May 2, 2026, at Country Barn Bed & Breakfast at Cataldo, Idaho.
