IDAHO FALLS — Thunder Ridge was big.
Post Falls played big.
Junior Cashton Bodman scored 18 points and senior Jaxon Lysne added 18 as the Post Falls Trojans defeated the host Thunder Ridge Titans 75-57 in the semifinal game of their bracket at the East Idaho Shootout on Tuesday at Thunder Ridge High.
Seniors Isaiah Naylor and Connor Carver added 12 and 10 points, respectively, for Post Falls (7-3), which will play Highland (7-1) of Pocatello today at 12:30 p.m. PST at Skyline High in the championship game. The Rams beat Bonneville of Idaho Falls 75-55 in the other semifinal.
“Probably our best team performance of the year,” Post Falls coach Jayson Ulrich said. “Defensively we were dialed in the entire game. Thunder Ridge is huge — 6-7, 6-6, 6-6 ... Cashton and Connor played against bigger, stronger players inside, and they became men tonight.”
Post Falls led 36-24 at halftime. Early in the third quarter, following two technical fouls on the Thunder Ridge bench, Bodman hit all four free throws, then Carver scored on the ensuing possession to cap a 7-0 Trojan run to start the quarter.
Naylor, the point guard, hit 4 of 4 3-pointers for the Trojans, including three in the first half.
“He’s not a guy you can sleep on,” Ulrich said. “He was kind of the X factor tonight.”
Junior forward McKay Scoresby scored 26 points for Thunder Ridge (7-2), including 15 of 17 from the free-throw line.
Camden Bateman, a senior forward, added 20 for the Titans.
