Willis Franklin Presnell, affectionately known as “Big Will,” passed away peacefully Dec. 23, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born May 25, 1940, in Lewiston, Idaho.

Willis grew up in Lapwai, Idaho, where he excelled as a multi-sport athlete in high school. His passion for sports led him to Lewis-Clark State College, where he played baseball. During college, he met the love of his life, Jeanne DeShirley. They were married on May 7, 1966, and shared 60 years together, building a loving home while living in several communities along the way. Following college, Willis enjoyed a successful career in sales, where his friendly charm led to numerous achievements. Whether selling tires, cars, or insurance, his ability to connect with people made him a favorite and friend to many.

Willis was deeply involved in sports throughout his life, as a fiercely competitive player, coach, official, and supporter. He worked with several Parks & Recreation organizations, AAU, Sports Official Associations and served on the NIC Booster Club, always promoting the positive impact of athletics in the community. Above all, Willis cherished his family. A loving husband, father, papa, brother and uncle, he found his greatest joy spending time with his family and loved ones.

“Big Will” will be deeply missed, yet his spirit will continue to inspire all who had the pleasure of knowing him. The family is planning a celebration of life at the softball field, early summer 2026; more details to come.

Willis is survived by his wife, Jeanne; children: Rory Presnell (Lynette), Holly Childers and Jill Smith (Shawen); sisters: Sheri Russell, Terry Wagner and Tammy Wolfgang (Mark); grandchildren: Logan (Shar), Sydney, Jake, Charley, Blake, Lily, Grace, Mallory, Mason and Lelend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lillian Presnell; his brother, Sam; his daughter-in-law, Teresa; and his grandchildren, Kendall, Chaselynn and Carson.
