Baldi and Close earn second state title, Bigfork speech and debate headed for Nat Quals

Bigfork’s Jake Baldi and Olivia Close defended their Class A title in duo interpretation at the State Speech Tournament in Laurel this weekend, with several teammates advancing to National Qualifiers.
“We did very well,” coach Shirley Stine noted. “We were entered into 10 categories and brought awards home for five of them.”
Brody Henion won first in dramatic interpretation, Micah Butler fourth. Madeline Pomeroy took sixth in original oratory and her duo interpretation with partner Cy Devlin earned eighth.
Up next, the Vikes and Vals will compete in the National Qualification round in Whitefish Friday, Feb. 14 and Saturday, Feb. 15.
