Bulldogs host Whitefish Duals

The Bulldogs wrestling team hosted the Whitefish Duals over the weekend, and while they didn’t get a dual win, several Whitefish wrestlers stood out.
“As far as a stand-out wrestler, I would have to say my freshman Ace Lee went out and battled no matter the score and showed the grit that I love to watch all the kids show,” Whitefish Head Coach Tom Gualtier said. “He also got his second-ever high school win, making it his first varsity win. As well as staying closely matched with everyone.”
Whitefish fell to Columbia Falls in a Northwestern A Conference rivalry, 38-17, but there were some standouts for the Bulldogs. Sam Akey pinned his opponent at 215 pounds, while Carter Olson notched an 18-2 technical fall at 150 pounds.
Against Bigfork, Whitefish fell 36-21 as forfeits proved key. At 118 pounds, Achius Lee’s 23-18 sudden victory earned three points for the Bulldogs. Carter Olson also recorded a pin at 150 pounds.
Whitefish also fell to Browning, 57-18, but three different Bulldog wrestlers recorded falls. Landree Aurand picked up a pin at 144 pounds, while Logan Heyne (157) and Sam Akey (215) also recorded falls.
“I feel good for the team as long as we stay healthy moving into the next two weeks, we should have a lot of fun,” Gualtier said. “We just need to keep our heads down and focus, working on getting to our shots and wrestling our matches from start to finish.”
