Elizabeth J. Richardson, 93
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 months, 1 week AGO
Elizabeth J. Richardson, 93, passed away Jan. 31, 2025, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Spokane on Dec. 22, 1931, to Gilbert and Martha (Pierre) Morris. She was later joined by brother Charles and sister Helen. The family lived in Spokane, Pomeroy and briefly in Walla Walla.
While editor of her school newspaper at Holy Names Academy in Spokane, she met the love of her life, George Richardson, who was the editor of his school newspaper at Gonzaga Prep. They were married July 7, 1951, at Our Lady of Lourdes Cathedral in Spokane. Elizabeth and George raised their family in Spokane and then Wenatchee. She worked as a nurse at the Wenatchee Valley Clinic for over 30 years and volunteered for many different charities. Baking cookies for the Cancer Care House was a true labor of love.
Elizabeth loved to entertain and their historic home next to Washington Park hosted many Wenatchee World parties as well as family and friends in their “North Wing”. She loved gardening and took great joy in caring for her roses, impatiens and geraniums. She also loved to travel and enjoyed trips to Indonesia, Japan, England, and New York to name a few. Elizabeth and George loved antiques, and their Pretentious Antique Shop in Wenatchee was a source of much pleasure and satisfaction.
But her biggest joy was her family. She was devoted to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by sons, Steve and Mark (Kathy); daughters, Peg and Julie (Rob); 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and a loving niece and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, George; siblings Charles and Helen; son Edward; daughter Cathryn; and grandsons Joe and Chris.
A celebration of life is being planned for springtime. Donations may be sent to the Schneidmiller Hospice House of North Idaho (hospiceofnorthidaho.org).
Yates Funeral Home is entrusted with final arrangements. Please visit Elizabeth’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
