Filing deadline Feb. 10 for Special Districts

Candidates have until 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 10, to file for fire, irrigation, and library districts. Elections are May 6.
Three-year terms are open in the Arlee Rural Fire District (one seat), Charlo-Moiese Fire (one), Chief Cliff Fire (two seats), Ferndale Rural Fire (two), Montecahto Rural Fire (two), Polson Rural Fire (one), Rollins Rural Fire (two), Ronan Rural Fire (one), St. Ignatius Rural Fire (one), Swan Lake Rural Fire (two) and Swan Valley Fire Service Area (one).
The Flathead Irrigation District has two openings for three-year terms; the Jocko Irrigation District and Mission Irrigation District each have one three-year term open.
Local libraries have openings for trustees too. North Lake County Library District has three four-year slots open, as does the Ronan Library District.
The board overseeing Mission Valley Aquatics has two openings for four-year terms.
Candidates can file for all positions at the Lake County Election Office in Polson. The deadline for write-in candidates is 5 p.m. March 3. The election is May 6.
School districts also have board openings, although the filing deadline is March 27 (April 3 for write-in candidates) for the election on May 6.
Candidates should reach out to their local district clerk for filing information. Ronan has three openings; Charlo, Arlee and Polson each have two openings; St. Ignatius, Dayton, Valley View and Salmon Prairie have one apiece.
