Peter Daniels Jr. was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Detroit to Jean and Peter Daniels. He died Jan. 20 at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Polson.
Peter served in the U.S. Army (1953-55) before working as a bank manager where he met the love of his life, Carol Gugas. Peter and Carol married in 1956 and had two children.
Pete and Carol ran a specialty advertising business in west Michigan before moving to Polson in 2003. Pete loved fishing, bowling, gardening and pinochle, as well as sharing Facebook posts and creating YouTube playlists.
Pete was deeply committed to his family and community. He was a fierce advocate for social justice and democratic ideals. Pete and Carol attended weekly peace vigils for more than eight years and supported the Jeannette Rankin Peace Center.
Pete is preceded in death by his parents and son Mark. He is survived by his wife, Carol, following 68 years of marriage, sister Lydia (John), son David (Lyn), grandchildren Maya (Elijah) and Sequoya, and great-grandchildren Silas Mercy and Carol Jacaranda.
A celebration of Pete’s live is tentatively being scheduled for April.
