The road was not kind to the Alberton Panthers and Lady Panthers this past weekend, and it had nothing to do with snow.

Both Alberton teams took on Drumond and Seeley-Swan, with the Alberton boys falling to Drummond 50-32 this past Saturday in Drummond, one night after they fell to Seeley 68-27. 

The Lady Panthers also had a tough time, losing to Drummond 50-7, following their 57-14 loss to Seeley Friday night. 

In their game against Seeley Friday night, the Alberton boys fell behind 21-9 after the first quarter of play to the 11-6 Blackhawks.  Seeley continued their defensive pressure and offensive efficiency in the second quarter as they rolled to a 39-15 halftime advantage. 

The third quarter proved disastrous for the Panthers, who were outscored 19-0, giving the host team an insurmountable 58-15 lead heading into the final eight minutes of play.  Alberton fought back in the fourth quarter, outscoring Seeley 12-10 but it was not enough to overcome the large deficit. 

Shea Fredette led Alberton in scoring with 10 points, while guard Tam Dao added seven for the Panthers.  Seeley got double-figure scoring from four players, topped by Derrick Brovold’s 12 points. 

Saturday evening in Drummond, Alberton locked horns with the Trojans, who took a 15-10 lead after one quarter of play.  The home team outscored the Panthers 14-5 in the second quarter, giving them a 29-15 halftime edge. 

Drummond outscored Alberton 30-17 in the second half to clinch the 27-point win. Fredette once again led the Panthers with 10 points, while Javier Ostler led all scorers with 20 points for Drummond. 

Meanwhile, the Alberton girls opened their two-game weekly schedule in Seeley, where they were outscored 26-2 in the first quarter.  The Lady Panthers outscored Seeley 6-4 in the second quarter, sending the two teams into the halftime intermission with the Lady Blackhawks leading 30-8. 

Seeley’s defense held Alberton to six points in the second half, while the Blackhawks offense put 27 points on the board to seal the 57-14 win. 

The Lady Panthers’ offensive drought continued Saturday night in Drummond, where the Lady Trojans held them scoreless in the first quarter on their way to an early, 16-0 lead. 

By halftime, Drummond had a 32-3 lead.  The home team continued their offensive and defensive show in the second half, outscoring Alberton 18-4 enroute to the win. 

Kimberly Parson had 19 points for Drummond to lead all scorers. 

Alberton has no games on their schedule until the District 13C playoffs Feb 19-22 in Frenchtown.
