Coeur d'Alene broke a record for cold temperatures Tuesday.
Climatologist Cliff Harris said it dipped as low as negative 6 degrees early Tuesday, breaking the 1929 mark of negative 2 degrees for Feb. 11.
In the first six days of February, Harris said it snowed 8.4 inches in Coeur d'Alene, doubling the season's total snowfall and bringing it to 16.8.
The first 11 days of February have been on average 14 degrees below normal, a turnaround from averaging 14 degrees above normal for November, December and January.
He said he expects a snowy February and March and believes Coeur d'Alene could still receive 40-50 inches of snow for the winter.
"Winter has come late, but it's coming with force," Harris said.
