Troy celebrated its boys and girls basketball teams’ seniors Thursday night as Thompson Falls came to the Troy Activity Center.

For the Cody Orr’s boys’ team, Preston Norder, Kempton Sloan, Brody Kelso, Cody Todd, Colter Morris and Lucas Peterson were honored as well as team managers Gabrielle Adair and Sophia Simanovicki. For Steve Morris’ Lady Trojans, Autumn Fisher, Cortenie Rogers and Leslie Gravier were honored.

Todd was making his first appearance with the boys squad as he continues his recovery from a serious kidney injury suffered against Plains more than a month ago.

The boys game was a matchup between the top two teams in 7B.

The Trojans enjoyed a 10-6 lead with 2:11 left in the first quarter following a 6-0 run with baskets by Kempton Sloan and Nolan Morris.

Carson Orr’s driving layup tied the game at 14 early in the second quarter, prompting a Blue Hawks timeout.

The visitors followed with a 9-2 run to take a 21-14 lead they never relinquished. Thompson Falls led 25-19 at halftime and 35-24 after three quarters.

The Trojans owned the first few minutes of the fourth quarter as Orr and Sloan keyed a 7-2 run to make it 37-31. Orr’s 3-pointer with 5:54 left made it a six-point game.

Troy cut the deficit to five points twice in the final 4:26. Emerson Downey’s 3 made it 41-36 and Orr’s basket with 1:51 left made it 43-38, but the Blue Hawks scored the final five points to close out the win.

Friday, the Trojans fell at Eureka, 52-32. The Lions jumped out to a 23-5 first quarter lead.

Orr led Troy with 11 points and Downey added nine.

The Trojans are back in action this weekend in St. Ignatius at the 7B tournament. They are scheduled to play at 7:15 p.m. Friday.

In the girls game, Thompson Falls won, 76-38. Addyson Fisher hit four 3-pointers on her way to 12 points. Kirsti Jellesed scored 11 and Leslie Gravier scored eight points.

Friday, Eureka claimed a 48-36 win over the Lady Trojans. Troy will play at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in a 7B play-in game at Superior.
