Tirza TwoTeeth takes third state wrestling title

The Ronan girls placed third as a team and had a state champion in Tirza TwoTeeth at 235 pounds. In all, five Ronan wrestlers found the podium, while Polson had one wrestler who placed at the MHSA Girls State Championships in Billings.
Tirza TwoTeeth won the 235-pound championship, scoring three wins. After a first-round bye, TwoTeeth notched an 18-second pin over Belgrade’s Bree Bullshoe.
In the semifinals, TwoTeeth pinned Miles City’s Grayson DeJong. In the championship match, she scored a 65-second pin over Browning’s Kendahl Guardipee.
River Cote was third at 105 pounds, notching four victories at state. Cote got a bye in the first round, and then notched a 25-second pin against Fairfield’s Amelia Grina.
In the quarterfinals, she scored a 16-0 technical fall over Harlem’s Izzy Baker. Cote fell in the semifinals, but in the consolation round, she pinned Flathead’s Juliette Cuevas to advance to the third-place match, when she pinned Harlem’s Izzy Baker.
At 115 pounds, Saellah Nomee placed fourth. In the first round she won by bye, and then by forfeit in the second round. In the quarterfinals she lost by fall, but won with a 44-second pin in the consolation bracket over Simms’ Cadence Crookston.
Nomee then pinned Arlee’s Anola Naugle and Poplar’s Alara Cooper before losing in the third-place match.
Leona Dodson Howe placed fourth at 155 pounds, scoring four different victories. After a first-round bye, she notched a 90-second pin over Gallatin’s Hannah Gohde.
After losing in the quarterfinals, she moved to the consolation bracket, where she scored a 51-second pin over Mission’s Meadow Ragen, a 4-0 decision over Choteau’s Natalia Samson, and a 4:07 pin over Shepherd’s Brooke Werth before falling in the third-place match.
Haven Houle placed sixth at 235 pounds, having a busy run through the bracket. Houle scored a 94-second pin over Fort Benton’s Dilynn Layne in the first round. After falling in the semifinals, she picked up a pin over Big Sandy’s Marquell Houle, and a pin over Great Falls Central’s Abbie Cochran. She would fall in her next two matches but still reach the podium.
For the Polson girls, Abighail Sorrell placed fourth at 190 pounds. After a first-round bye, she scored a 41-second pin over Colstrip’s Avery Violett. She then scored another pin in the semifinals over Hardin’s Lauren Krebs.
After losing in the semifinals, she notched a pin over Billings West’s Brooklen Larsen, but then fell in the third-place match.
