Ronan Maidens pick up first win over Browning since 2021

Ronan took the lead in the third quarter off two Natalie Adams free throws and never looked back in a 55-50 Northwestern A Conference victory over Browning on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Kailyn Marengo had a big night with 19 points while Lauryn Buhr and Adams each tallied nine points. Maddy Illig and Nevaeh Perez each had seven points for Ronan.
Ronan had a 30-28 lead at halftime and while things were tight, the Maidens didn’t trail after the 3:13 mark in the third quarter. The Maidens improved to 7-3 in conference play and 10-6 overall.
Browning fell to 4-4 in conference play and 6-8 overall. The last win for the Maidens over Browning was in 2021.
It was senior night for the Maidens. Seniors Lauryn Buhr, Ally Luedtke, Arianna Zepeda, and Kylee Kelch have collectively collaborated over the course of their combined careers for more than 1,000 points, 750 rebounds, 300 assists, and 400 steals.

Ronan conquers Whitefish too
The Maidens took Whitefish to task in a 63-20 Northwestern A Conference victory as Nevaeh Perez notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Ronan jumped out to a 15-8 lead and finished the first half on a 29-5 run for a 44-13 halftime lead. The Maidens started the second half on a 15-4 run and held the Lady Bulldogs to three points in the fourth quarter.
Kailyn Marengo led Ronan with 14 points, while Arianna Zepeda had 13. Natalie Adams and Lauryn Buhr each scored eight.
Whitefish fell to 4-9 overall and 2-6 in conference play.

Lady Pirates take down Libby
Ahri Rushing notched a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds in Polson’s 54-24 Northwestern A Conference victory over Libby on Saturday, Feb. 15. The Pirates used a 12-3 run in the second quarter to acquire a 24-13 halftime lead and then held the Lady Loggers to 11 points in the second half.
Sam Rensvold added nine points, as did Hinkley Moss, while Rylee Taylor-Jefferson had seven points.
The win improved Polson to 6-10 overall and 4-6 in conference play. Libby fell to 1-15 overall and 0-10 in conference play.

Bigfork defeats Polson
Bigfork improved to 10-0 in Northwestern A Conference play, defeating Polson 71-27 on Thursday, Feb. 13. Olivia Ramirez led the Lady Pirates with 10 points, while Sam Rensvold and Rylee Taylor-Jefferson scored eight points.
Bigfork led 20-5 after one quarter and had a 36-11 halftime lead.
Rensvold crossed the 100-point scoring mark for the season, but Polson dropped its sixth conference matchup of the season.
Bigfork improved to 14-2 overall. Braedon Gunlock led the Valkyries with 35 points.

Lady Bulldogs cage Superior
Mission got a double-double from Cora Matt who scored 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs notched a 68-28 Western 7B victory over Superior on Friday, Feb. 14.
Mission got off to a hot start, leading 15-6 after the first quarter and then finishing the first half on a 25-3 run.
Brooklyn McClure had 14 points, and Kieran Incashola had 11 points, six rebounds, and three steals to go along with two blocks. Mary Lamere also scored 10 points.
The win improved Mission’s record to 14-4 overall and 9-1 in league play. The Bobcats fell to 5-4 in league play and 8-9 overall.

Trio leads Mission past Plains
Mission’s defense held Plains to seven first-half points in a 70-40 Western 7B victory on Thursday, Feb. 13.
Kason Page, Kieran Incashola and Cora Matt led the Lady Bulldogs with 16 points apiece. Mission led 16-4 after one quarter and went on a 20-3 run to finish off the first half. Plains’ production increased in the second half, but the team couldn’t outpace the Lady Bulldogs for a comeback.
Matt tallied had nine rebounds, five assists and seven steals. Shaedon Kain also had nine points and Brooklyn McClure posted eight.
Plains dropped to 7-9 overall and 2-6 in league play.

Lady Bulldogs blast Troy
St. Ignatius scored a 74-25 victory over winless Troy in Western 7B action on Tuesday, Feb. 11. Shaedon Kain led the Lady Bulldogs with 20 points, five rebounds, two assists and four steals.
Mission led 26-5 in the first quarter and went into halftime with a 40-13 lead, then opened the third quarter on a 24-2 run.
Kason Page added 18 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and six steals to the Lady Bulldogs’ efforts, while Cora Matt had 14 points and 11 rebounds to register the double-double.
Kieran Incashola also reached double digits with 13 points, four assists, and five steals; she nailed three three-pointers in the matchup.
Troy fell to 0-8 in league play and 3-12 overall.

Charlo had a big second quarter en route to 70-34 Western 13C victory over Victor on Saturday, Feb. 15. Seeley McDonald scored 31 points to lead the Lady Vikings, who improved to 9-2 in league play and 14-3 overall.
Charlo led 17-5 after one quarter and then went on a 29-12 run in the second quarter for a 46-17 halftime lead.
GG Hawk added 15 points while Brielle Zempel scored 11 points. Maddison Harris had eight.

Charlo wasted little time getting after Alberton in a 71-20 Western 13C victory at home on Thursday, Feb. 13. The Lady Vikings led 32-6 in the first quarter and finished on a 20-5 run for a 52-11 halftime lead.
Seeley McDonald led the Lady Vikings with 24 points, while GG Hawk added 14 points and Maizey McDonald notched 12. Maddison Harris was the fourth player in double-digits with 10 points.
Alberton fell to 0-16 overall.
Brielle Zempel also added eight points to the Lady Vikings’ efforts.

Two Eagle gets past Alberton
The Lady Eagles fended off Alberton in Western 13C play with a 47-45 victory on Tuesday, Feb. 11.
Keke Tenas scored 17 points, pulled down four rebounds and had five steals and two blocks in the victory for Two Eagle. Alberton went into halftime with a 28-18 lead, but Two Eagle went on a 19-3 run in the third quarter to get back into the game. With the lead, they held on for the two-point win despite Alberton outscoring them by four points in the fourth quarter.
Dayani Piapot scored 14 points and had nine rebounds and nine steals. Aurora Madplume also had six points to go along with four rebounds and five steals.
