Parker Advises More Sour Cherry Growing
Fred T. Parker, manager of the Bitter Root cannery at Hamilton and President of the Montana Horticultural “society, gave an interesting and valuable address to the Polson Kiwanians at their weekly luncheon Tuesday evening. He was accompanied by Mrs. Parker.
Mr. Parker addressed the canning industry with particular reference to the sour cherry crop, which he believes ranks with the McIntosh Red Apple as the best fruit crop for western Montana. The cannery paid a good price for sour cherries for canning last year and will handle a goodly quantity this year.
Valentine Party
Mary Jane and Clara Westby entertained at a valentine party at the Iverson home last Saturday afternoon. One of the main features of the amusements was a valentine box.
There were 46 children seated at the tables for lunch and all of the children had an unusually happy time.
Ekrheim-Larson Nuptials
On Tuesday evening, Feb. 16, at the home of Mrs. Tom Alma occurred the wedding of Miss Martine Larson to Mr. Asmund A. Ekrheim. Rev. S. G. Nelson officiated.
The witnesses were Albert Sederstrom and Mrs. Mary Sederstrom. A number of friends and neighbors were invited to dance after the ceremony.
The couple will be at home on the groom’s homestead on Garcon Gulch.
The community extends their hearty congratulations.
Coyotes Win Easy Game from Browning
The Polson Coyotes won an easy game from the Browning Indians at the Lincoln Gym Tuesday night, defeating the visitors by a score of 28 to 15.
The Coyotes took the lead from the jump and were never hard pressed. The score at the end of the first half was 18 to 2, Browning only making one basket in the first two quarters.
In the second half the Browning center began caging long shots from the middle of the floor and dropped in three in a row in the first few minutes. It looked as if he might make the game interesting but the Coyotes stopped the Browning rally and added a few more to their own tally, maintaining their lead.
Lester Olson, playing for the Coyotes, played an exceptionally fast game and was responsible for 13 of his team’s points.

Car Class: Ronan students gain automotive know-how
The automotive shop at the Boys and Girls Club in Ronan looks like the real deal. The three-bay shop boasts a lift in one bay, compliments of Don Aadsen Ford, and is equipped with automotive supplies and tools, vehicles and parts. The young mechanics working there are Ronan Charter Academy students, who attend either a morning or an afternoon session three days a week.
Rain fails to quench St. Paddy’s Day parade or spirits
It’s always a guessing game on St Patrick’s Day - will it be stormy or sunny (or both)? As someone whose birthday is on March 17, I can tell you the scales tip heavily towards stormy and last Tuesday was no exception.
Ronan City Council OKs pawn shop, adds Melton to police board
Ronan’s City Council meeting on March 11 saw the council selecting former council member Marlene Melton to serve on Ronan’s Police Board. In other business, council members discussed the Ronan Board of Adjustment’s suggestion to add “pawn shop” to the uses for the parcel of land located at 35958 Round Butte Road, but not the entire subdivision.
