Larry G. Brownell

Larry Brownell passed away peacefully in Sandpoint Idaho at Life Care Center of Sandpoint on Friday, Feb. 14. He was 91 years old.
Larry was born in Colfax, Wash., on April 12, 1933, to George Wesley Brownell and Frances Mary White. He had two brothers, his older brother WIlliam (Bill) Brownell and his twin Harold Marlin Brownell.
Larry enjoyed playing basketball at Colfax High School, where he graduated in 1952. He married Donna Mae Wise, his high school sweetheart, and mother to his six children. After serving two years in the Army, Larry attended Kinman Business College in Spokane. Larry worked at Walla Walla Grain Growers, Oakesdale Grain Growers, and was the manager at Colfax Grain Growers when the company merged with Pullman and became Whitman County Growers. In 1975 Larry changed careers and sold cars at what was then Brown and Holter Chevrolet in Colfax.
Larry married Carol Gill on Lake Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, in July 1985. In his final years in Sandpoint, Idaho, he loved to talk about what he was “famous” for: swimming across Lake CDA in front of their home on Mica Bay.
Larry is survived by five children: Gregory Richard Brownell (wife Susie) of Dayton, Wash.; Bruce Marlin Brownell (wife Erricka) of Priest River, Idaho; Darla Brownell Tubbs (husband Dana) of Airway Heights, Wash.; Jonathan Lawrence Brownell (wife Jane) of Sandpoint, Idaho; and Gloria Brownell-McDaniels (husband Shawn) of Everett, Wash.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Larry is preceded in death by a daughter, Paula Bonnie Brownell, wife Carol Ann Gill, father Wesley Brownell, mother Frances Meyers, and brothers Bill Brownell and Harry Brownell.
Larry was so very loved by his family and the wonderful people at Life Care Center, Sandpoint. The family extends their thanks to all who work there.
