A Kalispell man caught on camera vandalizing a car tire later threatened the victim with a knife for turning the evidence over to the authorities, prosecutors say.

Daniel Christopher Walker, 36, faces a felony charge of assault with a weapon and misdemeanor count of resisting arresting in Flathead County District Court following a Feb. 14 confrontation with a neighbor in a Liberty Street apartment complex. Walker, who will be arraigned before Judge Paul Sullivan on Feb. 27, remains in the county jail with bail set at $100,000.

Walker came to the attention of Kalispell Police officers after a neighbor turned in a video at about 11:31 p.m., Feb. 13 purporting to show the 36-year-old knife a car tire, court documents said. After reviewing the footage, which allegedly showed Walker bend down near the victim's vehicle, officers conducted interviews and documented the incident.

They received a second call from the victim just hours later at about 2:21 a.m. Walker allegedly was stalking about his apartment and threatening to stab him if he contacted the authorities again.

Walker also allegedly threatened to slit his throat, the victim later told investigators.

Walker exited his apartment while authorities spoke with the victim, court documents said. Told he was under arrest, Walker eventually complied with officers' instructions. During a search, they uncovered a knife in the pocket of his pants, court documents alleged.

Walker allegedly became combative enroute to the county jail, kicking and striking the inside of a patrol vehicle.

Assault with a weapon is punishable by up to 20 years in Montana State Prison and a $50,000 fine. Resisting arrest carries a maximum penalty of six months in the county jail and a $500 fine.
