CONESTOGA WAGON COMING
Bonner County’s first official participation in the nation’s Bicentennial Celebration will be to host Idaho’s Conestoga wagon March 14-16. The wagon will go to each school in the district, so students may view it. On March 17, the frontier replica will leave the Bonner County fairgrounds enroute to Kootenai County. A local team of draft horses will provide pulling power as it heads southward. Any local horsemen wishing to serve as outriders are invited to join in. After visiting each county in the state, the covered wagon will leave Idaho Aug. 1, joining similar vehicles from other Western states to embark on a long eastward journey to Valley Forge, Pennsylvania - the “History in Reverse” trail.

SURPRISE PARTY FOR DR. WENDLE
Dr. Floyd Wendle, pioneer physician of Sandpoint, is not easily surprised, but he was quite unprepared for the surprise gathering which greeted him at the home of his oldest son, Dr. C.C. Wendle, last Wednesday. Coming from Spokane were Mr. and Mrs. Rex Wendle and Chud Wendle; Mr. and Mrs. Kermit Miller of this city completed the group. After the gifts were opened, the family, augmented by long time friends Mr. and Mrs. Don Diehl, adjourned to Lee’s Cafe, where they were served a complete Chinese dinner in the private dining room. A lovely birthday cake, which Mrs. Eng had baked in honor of the doctor’s birthday, adorned the dining table.
