Vikings, Wildcats close regular season with wins

WHITEFISH — Austin Savik poured in 25 points to lead four Bigfork players in double figures, and the Vikings pulled away to beat Whitefish 69-51 in Northwest A boys basketball Tuesday.

Jack Lucke added 13 points and Quinn Herring and Treker Hickey had 12 each for the Vikings (6-12 overall, 4-8 in the Northwest A), who led 33-17 at halftime.  

Carson Gulick’s 16 points led Whitefish (6-12, 3-9 in league), which closed the gap some in the third quarter only to see Savik hit his three of his five 3-pointers in the fourth.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Grady Hutton scored 20 points and sparked a big second-quarter that set Columbia Falls on its way to a Northwest A win.. 

Bjorn Pedersen added 15 points and Reggie Sapa 10 for the Wildcats (15-3 overall, 10-2 in Northwest A games); Hutton hit two of their five 3-pointers in the second quarter, in which he scored eight points. He also grabbed 11 rebounds. 

Malakai Curley led the Pirates (9-9, 6-6) with 14 points.

BROWNING — Jude Reevis scored 18 points, 15 coming during Browning’s fierce second-half comeback, and the Runnin’ Indians beat Whitefish in Northwest A play. 

Josh Skunkcap added 11 for Browning (13-5 overall, 10-2 in league), which trailed 19-5 after one quarter and 33-19 at halftime.  

With the win, Browning clinched the the Northwest’s No. 1 seed into next week’s Western A Divisional in Whitefish. The Runnin’ Indians owned the tie-breaker with Columbia Falls via head-to-head point differential. 

CJ Thew had 14 points and Carson Gulick 11 for Whitefish (6-11, 3-8). Gulick had all his points in the first half; Thew had 12 by intermission, including two 3-pointers.
