Inaugural 11U girls hockey Banner Tournament a success for Glacier Hockey Association

Last weekend marked a monumental achievement for the Glacier Hockey Association, as the organization competed in the first year of girls' hockey in the EKL 11U league’s Banner Tournament. With 14 players and 2 goalies rostered, the team not only showcased impressive talent but also earned a respectable second-place finish, making waves in the early stages of their journey in girls' hockey.
Glacier Hockey Association's team displayed exceptional teamwork and skill, scoring a total of 12 goals while only conceding 6 across 3 games.
Leading the charge offensively were Rowan Berney and Saylor Hindmann. Their standout performances were integral in securing critical victories and comebacks during the tournament, helping Glacier stay competitive against tough opponents.
Brooke Kalgren and Fynlee Tveidt each contributed 2 goals and 1 assist. The combination of skillful playmaking, precision shooting and relentless pursuit of the puck created offensive opportunities that the team capitalized on time and again.
Defensively, goaltenders Juliet Wainwright and Nyah Lessard played a pivotal role in the team’s success. Despite facing significant pressure, they only allowed 6 goals in total. Their poise and quick reflexes in net helped keep Glacier in the hunt throughout the tournament.
The team’s success in the league’s inaugural Banner Tournament reflects not only the talent of these young players but also the hard work and dedication that went into developing girls' hockey in the Flathead Valley. Lini Reading, a coach with over 30 years of coaching experience, is backed up by Aly Wells and Sarah MacCormick, both college hockey players with experience coaching high school state-winning teams. With a balanced roster and the leadership of key players like Berney, Hindmann, Kalgren, and Tveidt, the future of girls' hockey in the Flathead Valley is looking brighter than ever.
