ALL-LEAGUE GIRLS BASKETBALL: Mire, Tomco, Thompson among area honorees

PLAYER OF THE YEAR: Brecken Mire

A sophomore guard standing at 5 foot 10 inches tall, Mire started and played in 25 games this year for the Lady Bulldogs and averaged 15 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.7 steals, and 0.9 blocks per game in addition to being highly efficient from the free throw line and from mid-range. She had a season-high 36 points (12-14 FG, 11-13 FT) against Lewiston on Feb. 7 ... a season-high eight assists against Lewiston on Feb. 4 ... a season-high eight rebounds against West Valley on Dec. 16 ... a tied for season-high five steals against West Valley on Dec. 16 and against Post Falls on Nov. 19 ... and a season-high five blocks against Post Falls on Nov. 19.

Mire is now a two-time All-League recipient, having received honors during the 2023-24 season as well. After two seasons at Sandpoint, she has amassed 650 points, 198 rebounds, 188 assists, 90 steals and 28 blocks.

ALL-LEAGUE: Jordyn Tomco

A sophomore guard standing at 5 foot 8 inches tall, Tomco started and played in 21 games this year for the Lady Bulldogs and averaged 14.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.4 blocks per game in addition to being Sandpoint's top 3-point shooter. She had a season-high 33 points against Lakeland on Feb. 13 ... a tied for season-high seven rebounds against Lakeland on Feb. 13 and Moscow on Dec. 3 ... a season-high five assists against Lake City on Jan. 28 ... a season-high five steals against Lake City on Jan. 28 ... and a season-high two blocks against Bonners Ferry on Nov. 16.

Tomco is now a two-time All-League recipient, having received Newcomer of the Year honors during the 2023-24 season. She was also named to the Idahosports.com 5A State All-Tournament Third Team. After two seasons at Sandpoint, she has collected 558 points, 167 rebounds, 53 assists, 58 steals and 14 blocks.

COACH OF THE YEAR: Will Love

In his seventh year as head coach, Love led his Lady Bulldogs to the fifth 5A (previously 4A) Inland Empire League district title and fifth state championship tournament appearance under his tenure. After posting a record of 14-12 this year, his overall record as a head coach now stands at 99-68.

Coach of the Year — William Love, Sandpoint.

Newcomer of the Year — Macy Bretveld, so., Lakeland.

Karstyn Kiefer, jr., Lakeland; Addy McKarcher, sr., Lewiston; Landree Simon, sr., Lakeland; Jessa Skinner, jr., Moscow; Jordyn Tomco, so., Sandpoint.

Thompson receives honors for Lady Cats

ALL-LEAGUE: Hannah Thompson

A senior guard standing at 5 foot 4 inches tall, Thompson had a breakthrough year for the Lady Cats. She wasn't just the leading scorer, but also led the team on most nights in both assists and steals. Some notable games from this past season include one against Kootenai on Dec. 19 where she recorded 29 points, 10 rebounds, five steals and three assists ... against Mullan on Dec. 13 where she posted 17 points and five steals ... against Selkirk on Jan. 9 where she recorded a season-high 32 points... and against Lakeside on Feb. 19 where she netted 19 points against the eventual 2A SIC champions.

Player of the Year — Kyleigh Wolfe, jr., Lakeside.

All-league
