PREP BASKETBALL: Thunder boys roll past Christian Heritage for fourth straight win

MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 2 months, 1 week AGO
by MAX OSWALD
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | January 3, 2025 9:35 PM

IDAHO FALLS — Sophomore Brecken Mire tied a game-high 15 points, sophomore Livia Driggs added 12 and had the Lady Bulldogs' only two 3-pointers, but Sandpoint fell short of the host Lady Knights on day two of the East Idaho Holiday Shootout.

Down 30-25 at halftime, Hillcrest ran out to a 39-25 lead the start the third, but the Lady Bulldogs closed the gap with an 11-0 run that was sparked by a Driggs 3-pointer.

"We were excited about that, but of course disappointed with the loss," Sandpoint High head coach Will Love said. "We had some moments where we played really well, and defensively, we did a good job ... any time you can hold a team to 44 points you have to be pleased with that. Winning on the road is hard, but that's one of the reasons why we came down here."

Senior Demi Driggs had four points and nine rebounds, junior Mia Driggs four points for Sandpoint, which had their lone blemish during the second quarter with a two-point tally.

Hillcrest was led by sophomore Camryn Taylor, who matched Mire's game-high with 15 points.
