James (Jimmy) Raymond Jr., of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 18, 2024, at the age of 48. Jimmy was a beloved father, son, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy was born Aug. 20, 1976, in Minot, N.D., to James and Sandra Raymond. At the age of 3, his family moved to California where they would reside for the next 20 years. After a few years in California, he decided he had enough of California and moved to Montana and lived with his paternal grandparents at Dog Lake until he graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1995.

Jimmy and former spouse, Shela Silverthorn, had two beautiful children together, Shania and Christopher. He decided he needed to move away from his hometown to see what life outside Plains and Hot Springs had to offer. He lived quite a few places until he landed in Coeur d’Alene where he decided that was the place for him.

He loved many things, including camping, skiing, riding motorcycles, fast cars, refurbishing his old truck and traveling. His love of traveling took him to the Bahamas, Jamaica, Thailand and Mexico, just to name a few. He tried out a few different jobs such as construction worker, bouncer, taxicab driver and was an excellent bartender. He lived his life to the fullest and will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Shania (2018), brother Jason (2000), paternal grandparents Lester and Ila Mae Raymond, maternal grandparents Robert and Jean Perkins, and maternal uncle Norm Perkins.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Raymond of Plains, parents James and Sandra Raymond of Plains, sister Julie (Aaron) Jaques of Missoula, nephew Brendan Jaques and niece Aubrey Jaques, both of Missoula, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.

A celebration of life was held at Iron Horse Bar & Grill in Coeur d’Alene on Saturday, Jan. 4, from noon-4 p.m. Friends were invited to come and celebrate the life Jimmy lived and share stories. There will also be a celebration of life in Plains with date and time to be determined.

Private burial will take place sometime in the spring.
