The Charlo girls improved to 5-1 on the year with a 34-30 victory over Drummond in Western 13C action on Saturday, Jan. 4. In a defensive battle, the Lady Vikings held the Lady Trojans to just 10 second-half points.

"I am happy that we have won a good majority of our games," Charlo Head Coach Jeff Buck said. "With that being said, there isn't an aspect of our game that doesn't need significant improvement. We can't become complacent. We will continue to work hard at practice so we can be rewarded in public."

Seeley McDonald led the Lady Vikings with 10 points and GG Hawk had nine points. Maddison Harris also had eight points for Charlo.

Charlo led 17-14 after one quarter and 21-20 at halftime. The Lady Vikings increased their lead to three points in the third quarter and outscored the Lady Trojans by one point in the fourth.

"The strength of the Lady Vikings is their team mentality," Buck said. "The girls are very supportive of each other when they see a teammate having a tough game and will offer each other unwavering support."

The Lady Vikings improved to 2-1 in Western 13C action.

"Our district looks like it will come down to the wire to see who gets to move on to divisionals," Buck said. "It will be a dog fight to the end. I see a good majority of the teams are on a fairly even playing level."
