Ronan wins Western Girls Invite

Ronan had one champion and several placers as it won the Girls Western Invitiational in its home gym over the weekend. Polson tied for second with Browning and Mission-Charlo placed eighth.

Tirza TwoTeeth went 3-0 and placed first in the 235-pound bracket, scoring all falls, including a 50-second pin over teammate Haven Houle in the championship bout.

Houle had scored two pins to reach the championship bout and placed second, while Judasha Ellsworth placed fifth by defeating teammate Seattle Adams in the fifth-place match.

Destiny Finley was second in the 130-pound bracket, pinning two during her run. Teammate Sarah Templer was fifth in the 135-pound bracket, scoring two 30-second pins and also falling Browning’s Jasmine Monroe in 50 seconds during the fifth-place match.

Lola Schock was third at 140 pounds, as she scored three pins, including a fall in 4:05 over Frenchtown’s Preslyn Hasuknecht in the third-place match.

She wasn’t the only one who was third. Hadassah Read was third at 155 pounds with four pins and a 12-7 decision over Frenchtown’s Brylee Rees in the third-place match. Kylee Bourdon was third at 170 pounds, pinning one opponent.

Aaliyah Stewart placed fifth in the 125-pound bracket. After a second-round loss, she scored three falls, and then pinned Polson’s Shyloh Huffine in 29 seconds in the fifth-place matchup.

Ronan’s Marie Cheff was sixth at 110 pounds but suffered an injury in the consolation bracket.

Polson posts two champions

Vanessa Wheeler was a champion in the 145-pound bracket, winning all her matches by pins, including a fifty-second pin over Columbia Falls’ Samantha Larsen in the championship bout of the Ronan tourney. Abighail Sorrell also came out on top, winning all four of her matches in the 190-pound bracket, including a 92-second pin over Browning’s Kaci Costel in the first-place match.

Ciri Nice was second at 100 pounds, notching two pins. Teammate Avari Stone was second at 105 pounds, winning three straight matches via pin, including a fall over Stevensville’s Avery Faler in 1:40.

Ariella Mihara was second at 120 pounds, scoring three pins to reach the championship bout.

Shyloh Huffine was sixth at 125 pounds, pinning her first two opponents. Teammate Skyla Nielsen was fifth in the 130-pound bracket as Nielsen scored two pins to begin the tournament and then won the fifth-place match with a pin in 1:18 over Browning’s Skylee Kittson.

Mission-Charlo’s Ragen also a champion

Meadow Ragen won the 155-pound bracket with four pins, including a fall over Browning’s Hayden Edwards in 5:32 in the championship bout.

Amelia Cronk was fourth, winning three matches by pin in the 130-pound bracket. Anna Cronk was third in the 145-pound bracket, scoring four pins, including a fall of Bigfork’s Angela Farrier in 41 seconds in the third-place match.

At 235 pounds, Laurin Padilla was fourth, notching one pin.

Arlee has several placers

Arlee’s Anola Naugle placed third in the 115-pound bracket. Naugle won her first two matches via pin, including a first-round pin in less than 60 seconds.

In the consolation semifinals, Naugle got a fall in 32 seconds and then pinned Lincoln County’s Samantha Day in the third-place match in 2:13.

Teammate Kayden Dillard was sixth at 120 pounds. Dillard scored two pins to start off the tournament, including a 25-second pin in the quarterfinals.

Porter Pier was fifth at 140 pounds, winning two matches via pin, including a four-minute fall over Deer Lodge’s Kirby Shindurling in the fifth-place match.
