COLLEGE NOTEBOOK: Pluid helps Snow College to 12th win of season

MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 1 year, 4 months AGO
by MAX OSWALD
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | January 9, 2025 1:00 AM

Markynn Pluid, Snow College Basketball

A 2024 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Markynn scored four points on 2-of-3 shooting and hauled in a rebound across 12 minutes in the Lady Badgers' 89-54 road win over Colorado Northwestern Community College this past Saturday. Snow College (12-5) hosts Utah State University Eastern on Thursday.

Three area LCSC athletes receive academic honors

Connor Alexander (Bonners Ferry '22) and Camille Ussher (Bonners Ferry '22) of Lewis-Clark State College Cross Country and Track and Field, and Evelynn Chaney (Bonners Ferry '23) of Lewis-Clark State College Cheer have received academic honors for their efforts in the classroom during the 2024 fall semester. Alexander and Chaney were named to the President's List while Lucas and Ussher were named to the Dean's List.

At LCSC, to qualify for the President's List students must have a 3.75 grade point average or higher for the semester and take at least 12 graded credits in 100 level classes or above. The Dean's List uses the same requirements, but students must have a GPA between 3.25 and 3.749.

Emma Lucas, Big Bend CC Volleyball

A 2023 graduate of Bonners Ferry High, Emma was named to the President's List for the 2024 fall semester. At Big Bend CC, this designation is given to those who complete 12 or more graded credits with a grade point average of 3.75 and above.
