Live auditions to be held Jan. 25, 26; virtual auditions now being accepted

Coeur d'Alene Summer Theatre has announced a casting call for its 58th season, which will include a lineup of Broadway classics: "Hello, Dolly!," "Anastasia the Musical" and "She Loves Me."

Performers from across the nation are invited to audition for what is expected to be an unforgettable summer of theater.

● "Hello, Dolly!" — Roger Welch, who served as artistic director of Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre for 20 years, will serve as director. Welch will bring his extensive experience from directing and choreographing across the U.S. His return for "Hello, Dolly!" is a testament to his enduring legacy with the theater.

● "Anastasia the Musical" — Directed by Antoinette DiPietropolo, known for her profound impact on the stage with productions like "The Cher Show Tour" and "The Addams Family Tour," as well as "The Secret Garden" at Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre, where she balances classic storytelling with fresh innovation. Her work has been celebrated for its emotional depth and technical brilliance.

● "She Loves Me" — Gary John La Rosa, a director and choreographer with deep ties to "Fiddler on the Roof," will bring his vast experience to "She Loves Me," which has the same composers as "Fiddler on the Roof." With a career that spans from performing in Broadway's "Fiddler" to directing numerous productions worldwide, La Rosa's approach is sure to highlight the musical's charm and complexity.

Live auditions will be held by appointment Jan. 25 and 26 in Coeur d’Alene. Virtual submissions are now being accepted and will be considered until Jan. 20. Last year, Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre received an overwhelming response of more than 700 auditions. This year, theater leadership anticipates it will receive more than 1,000 auditions.

Welch, La Rosa and DiPietropolo will comprise the audition panel, with DiPietropolo also running dance auditions. Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre Executive Artistic Director Chuck Ethridge, nationally acclaimed local performer and voice studio owner Jenny Shotwell and Music Director Scott Michaelsen will also serve as panelists.

This season will not only offer a chance to perform in beloved musicals but will also give participants opportunities work with a panel of directors whose credentials are unparalleled. Each director brings a unique vision and expertise, promising productions that will resonate with audiences and offer growth opportunities for performers. 

Coeur d’Alene Summer Theatre is also seeking creatives and crew members for all productions. Positions are paid, with housing, travel and food stipends included.
