Lind woman arrested in alleged burglary

RITZVILLE — An early morning arrest ended with a Lind woman in jail Thursday, according to a statement from the Adams County Sheriff’s office. 

Janis M. Rountree, 47, of Lind was taken into custody and charged with second-degree burglary, possession of burglary tools, third-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief, according to the statement. 

At approximately 4:19 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 00 block of West Seidl Road northwest of Ritzville for a reported burglary in progress, according to the statement. Upon arrival, a responding deputy observed a suspect, identified as Rountree, actively removing items from a large shop. 

During the follow-up investigation, deputies recovered a vehicle involved in the crime that had been reported stolen out of Spokane County, the ACSO wrote. Additional charges are pending as the investigation continues.
